2015 Goals (Follow-Up)

2015 Goals (Follow Up)

At the beginning of the year I set some goals. This year I hoped to be fairly consistent with my posting schedule and take additional steps to expand my brand. In an attempt to be transparent and remain accountable to my goals, I am revisiting where I am now, compared to where I want to be.

I will say that we have had an inordinate amount of challenges in the Miller house this year. These continuous hurdles have served as reminders that while we are blessed, life will not just be given to us and it will be up to us to navigate these hurdles and make something of ourselves. Knowing that all of you are out there supporting me as part of the extended Prepared Ninja family continues to motivate me which I am grateful for. Thank you.

Here are my goals for The Prepared Ninja for 2015 along with an update of where I am at now:

GOAL ONE – Be more consistent in writing here. This has been an area where I have been slow last year, 2014 had me short on time no matter which way I turned. With the arrival of 2015, my goal is to ensure that I post an average of at least one article a week. This will be in addition to the continuation of the weekly Survival Sunday episodes.

GOAL ONE UPDATE – As of the completion of this post, I will have published 60 posts. Seeing as this is the 36th week in the calendar year, I have some catching up to do! I need to average about three posts a week for the rest of the year.

GOAL TWO – Complete my first book. I have no idea whether it will be an ebook that I put out myself or if a publisher will come knocking, either way I intend to get it done. It may be short or long, good or bad, but it will happen.

GOAL TWO UPDATE – I am about at the 50% mark on goal number two however, I have also been neglecting this project for a good part of the year in light of family stuff. I hope to pick things up a bit and get something put out, even if I need to go back later and do a revised edition.

GOAL THREE – Begin posting content to YouTube. I would like to put videos out so that you can get to know me better and to share the message of preparedness with a larger audience.

GOAL THREE UPDATE – Fail! I haven’t done jack about this yet. I did recently order some recording equipment and am contemplating the idea of maybe going the podcasting route primarily. Any thoughts?

Thanks for hanging around. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do. You can always send me an email at

Purpose & Determination

2013 has arrived! Happy New Year everyone! It seems to reason that since the Mayan Apocalypse is behind us and the country has gone off the cliff that we can focus on what is ahead of us. I know that it is supposed to be the fiscal cliff, but it kinda seems like the country has just fallen off of the cliff all together. I also know that the fiscal cliff bill passed both the Senate and House but it has to be backdated so does that really count? If I did the same thing with my checkbook I would be arrested! With all that being said, what will be the focus for 2013?

I already outlined the set of skills that I would like to learn or significantly improve over the next 12 months so this post will not be about all that things that I am going to accomplish or the resolutions that I will make. I am not a resolution kind of guy. In fact, I associate the term resolution with a certain goal that is set in January that is likely to fail within 60 days or less. What I do want to place emphasis on is going about things with purpose and determination in 2013. That will be my focus.

Purpose: An action in course of execution.

Determination: a.The act of deciding definitely and firmly; also: the result of such an act of decision. b. Firm or fixed intention to achieve a desired end.

How do the pieces of the puzzle come together? The definitions above for purpose and determination both include key words, action and act. No more thinking about doing something and dragging my feet. 2013 will be a year of action with determination and purpose.

What will you focus on in 2013?
